Don't believe the lies about Souther Sector Votes on the Convention Center Hotel

You have some of the same " wanna be" people spreading lies about the outcome of the Vote Yes for the Convention Center Hotel in the Southern Sector. District 7, 5 and 8 all had the majority of votes for Vote Yes against the Convention Center Hotel. District 4 is the only council district represented by an African American that went Vote No by a slim margin. In fact, District 8 represented by Tennell Atkins lost the Vote No by 10%. That means that the councilman was for Vote No and the citizens were for Vote Yes by 10%. When all of the numbers were aggregated, VOTE YES won in the Southern Sector. That means, VOTE YES WON IN THE FOUR COUNCIL DISTRICTS REPRESENTED BY AFRICAN AMERICANS WHEN ALL OF THE VOTES WERE ADDED FOR THOSE 4 COUNCIL DISTRICTS.

That is what is wrong with our community, we have so many untruthful persons saying that they are working for the community and they are not. If you tell the truth, it will all come out okay whether you win or lose. WIN OR LOSE, DO IT FOR THE COMMUNITY.

Oak Cliff

These newbies to Oak Cliff make me laugh. It's like they moved in yesterday and have all of the answers to what is needed in the area. I say they should take time and learn from people who have been working in the black community for years and then pick up the baton and run. You know, I see it as passing the baton, not dropping it and loosing because you did not practice and learn how to pass and then run. The idea is to win each leg of the race to be the ultimate winner. The last leg of the race can not run without successfully grabbing the baton and running to the finish.

Are we even in the race?

A Hit Dog Will Holler

My mother, rest her sole, always said "A hit dog will holler", and it looks like a lot of hollering is going on. My position has not changed about Dwaine (Dewayne, Dwayne) Caraway and Betty Culbreath.

There are two people that have openly disagreed with me and they are Sharon Boyd and Michael Davis. Michael Davis is a person who lives in District 8 and is appointed to the Dallas City Plan Commission by Dwaine Caraway to represent District 4. I think Michael is a bitter guy who is trying to make his way in politics in Black Dallas. Check him out, he is always defending Dwayne as if his life depends on making sure that anyone who says something negative about Dwaine will get his raft. Who cares about his raft?

Sharon Boyd's opinion is hers, and I hope she remembers how she has maligned many African Americans in the past few years, including Dwaine(Dewayne,Dwayne) Caraway. I do not agree with all of her assessments, but I never commented. Some of the people that she has spoken negative about are my friends and mentors, but sometimes its better to leave things alone. I live in the black community, I have worked on community issues since the late 1960's and I know that I have a better feel than Sharon for what is going on in the black community. I believe that Sharon Boyd's opinion about what is going on in Black Dallas has no relevance in my community.

There is not just one opinion in the Black community, therefore everyone is not going to agree with me, but "I say what I mean and mean what I say".

Dallas Housing Authority

Looks like the dirty work of getting rid of Ann Lott has been done and now Mayor Tom Leppert is going to rid himself of Betty Culbreath. So sad, but that's the way it works. Betty should know that once you are used to do the dirt, your service is no longer needed.

Where is Dwaine (Dewayne,Dwayne)Caraway who is one of Mayor Tom Leppert's gatekeepers? I think he is close to Betty and he is Leppert's head Negro watcher at Dallas city hall. Will he take a stand for Betty? I think that Betty also has a good relationship with Willis Johnson (another gatekeeper for Leppert), and I do not know if he will help his friend. Don't forget that Betty also has a good relationship with Tennell Adkins another disappointment to the African American community. With all of those connections, you would think that she would have very few problems getting reappointed.

I can not help but remember my situation on reappointment to the DART board and the role that this same cast of characters played.

What goes around comes around.

Smart DART Board Appointments

There were nine not so smart Dallas City Council members who appointed a preacher -Jerry Christian and a dentist-Claude Williams who both bought no experience on such a board appointment and zero experience in transportation. The city of Plano appointed Loretta Ellerbe a former council member who was involved in transportation through the Regional Transportation Council (RTC) where she was a member.

The city of Garland appointed Tracy Whitaker who's experience includes Vice President of Xerox and manager of the Dallas offices. He has also worked in strategic positions for FEDEX/Kinko.

Compare Dallas appointees to suburban appointees and you quickly see why the citizens of Dallas will loose. Mayor Tom Leppert, Dwaine Caraway, Elba Garcia and Tennel Adkins we thank you for your poor judgement. The other council members who voted for Jerry Christian and Claude Williams were following their leaders.

TOO BAD DALLAS CANNOT GET IT RIGHT AT DART, ON THE TRINITY AND OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES IN OUR CITY.

Mayor Tom Leppert and Dwaine Caraway Want To Limit Speaking at Dallas City Hall

I listen to council meetings as often as I can and know the names of some of the people that come down to speak often. They speak at the meetings about situations that they believe are not being addressed. In many cases the council members allow them their 3 minutes without comment.

The speakers at times find themselves in bitter discard with Dwaine (Dwayne,Dewayne) Caraway who often try to play the GATEKEEPER role and shut them down. Most of the speakers that are regular speakers at the council meetings are African American. Hence the term GATEKEEPER for Caraway is appropriate. Caraway in some instances have instructed the officers to remove the speakers from the council chambers, yelled at the speakers in a disrespectful tone, talked down to the speakers, and vowed to limit their opportunity to speak. Now the close alliance of Caraway and the mayor starts to take president over the will of the entire council. The mayor wants to limit public input. This is not the way the democratic process works. Maybe the mayor should return to Corporate America where the CEO speaks and everyone jumps or just shut their mouth.

Thank you councilwomen Voncil Jones Hill, Carolyn Davis and Angela Hunt. Please DO NOT DRINK THE WATER AT CITY HALL. There is a reason why the speakers take issue with Dwaine (Dewayne,Dwayne) Caraway and now Mayor Tom Leppert wants to limit speakers.

Townhall Meeting

It seems that Townhall meetings are the new buss words. If you are wondering why so many meetings these days, its because an election for council districts will be in May, 2009 and this is the smoke screen that is being put out for you the public.

It's amazing that on another site, someone "Thanks" the seniors on walkers and canes for attending a Townhall meeting. I just wonder what trick they pulled for that. I want the public not to be fooled by these people and I am wishing for new leadership in the African American community. District 4 and 8 need new leadership and I hope that people will come forth in those districts and run for council. I know that we can do better and we must do better to make sure that we do not have suck ups to Mayor Leppert and the Citizens Council. If you do not believe what I am saying just check their voting records. Talk is cheap but votes speak loudly.

DART's $600,000.00 SNAFU

Frontburner is reporting that a person that lives near the new Hall Street Rail Station on the Green Line, sent word that workers were tearing up the tracks that were recently laid. DART explains it this way: The concrete pedestals put in place to support the tracks (about 6,000 linear ft.) were deficient. They say that the fault lies with the contractors and their intentions are to have the contractors absorb the cost of correcting the problem. I say watch for a change order.

Thank You

Vonciel Jones Hill, Carolyn Davis, Angela Hunt, Pauline Medrano,Steve Salazar and Linda Koop. I would just like for the public to know how much I appreciate your support. As a citizen of Dallas, I could not ask for a better group of people supporting me and my desires. You are a class-act on the Dallas City Council and the public should be aware of who you are and why your efforts should be supported. You are about the real development of this city and I will be forever grateful to you.

City of Dallas will tow cars without insurance

In January of 2009 Dallas police will began towing vehicles after routine stops if the driver can not prove that they have insurance. Almost all of the minority council members expressed some concern with proceeding with the new ordinance and voted against it.

Dwaine(Dewayne,Dwayne) Caraway voted for the ordinance after giving some off the wall speech. We need to continue to watch who is at city hall and who is suppose to be representing the community.

Michael Davis

I am glad that the black community is seeing him for what he is. I was introduced to him when he presented a proposal to work for mayoral candidate Darrell Jordan. He is not what this community needs or wants.

I do not always agree with anyone, but it is Commissioner John Wiley Price's right to campaign for who he chooses and who is Michael Davis to tell him that he can not? Just a puppet.

DWAINE(DWAYNE,DEWAYNE) CARAWAY

I read the article in the Dallas Morning News twice and I am still trying to figure out what it said. It must be a slow news day. Dwaine(Dwayne,Dewayne) Caraway is a joke and you have it right he does have a lot of critics. It is a shame that he is allowed to serve on the council when he borrowed money from the city of Dallas and DID NOT PAY IT BACK. That is crazy. We do not need leaders who know how to fast talk, and beat the system. We need real men and women in the community who can show the people how to be leaders by following the law.

All of this stuff about getting along at city hall is a joke. There is so much of an undercurrent that is just below the surface. Why do you think Dwaine(Dwayne,Dewayne) Caraway jumped on the other side of the fence when he, Mayor Leppert and Elba Garcia returned the Cotton Bowl Tickets without talking to other council members. What you see in him is what you get and that is certainly not a leader.

Bank Loans in Southern Dallas

What is new about banks not lending money in Souhtern Dallas? Maybe there are some new people on the scene who can not remember 15 to 20 years ago when Robert Pitre posted banners outside of his car lot on Harwood and Grand that indicated that banks were not making loans in Southern Dallas. Maybe they cannot remember when banks were protested for not lending in South Dallas. Forgive me, these Negroes do not protest. Maybe some of the people who are writing and talking about the disparity now were not here when others made the same claims or just maybe they think they have a better handle on things and the bankers will listen to them.

Clearly there must be an investment in Southern Dallas for the city of Dallas to grow, because the city can not grow North. There will be investors in Southern Dallas, but they will not all be African Americans. Southern Dallas is racially diverse and the expectation is that all will participate in the growth.

Thank You

Thank You to the people who have been reading Rufus Shaw's comments on Dallas Blog about me and responding with a positive message about me. I find it curious that after Willis Johnson,Dwaine (Dewayne,Dwayne)Caraway, Tennell Adkins, Mayor Tom Leppert and others worked so hard to get me off the DART board (8/7 vote) they can not let it rest. I am sure that I can not be that much of a threat to them or their desire to play a shell game with the community.

There is a mean spirit in these people and Southern Dallas will continue to be stagnant because of it. It is impossible for Southern Dallas development to take place with a few elected and appointed officials asking for their share at the expense of development in the community. If you do not believe me, then just read what is written about Southern Sector Development by Rufus Shaw, Michael Davis, and others. You should also listen to what is being said by people who say they are representatives of the Southern Sector.

Dallas City Plan Commission/Deep Ellum Bar

As reported in the Dallas Morning News, the Dallas City Plan Commission has preliminarily approved permits for several Deep Ellum bars, including the Red Blood Club. " They gave us a green light basically , and it's a slam dunk when they gave us the approval because we had no problems there", Mr.Garrett (co-owner) said of the Plan Commission.

There was a fight early Sunday morning and three men were stabbed. The fight, which police said was gang-related, started shortly after 1 a.m. at the Red Blood Club. A man who had just been kicked out of the bar came back with a second man, and they started fighting the employee working the floor.

Plan Commission Did you do the right thing?

Black Community Joke

Please give me a break, the people that are writing on Blogs like Michael Davis are a joke. He seems to think that he is the only one that can speak of what has been done in our community. Some of us were working in this community before he was born and others before he got here. I just think that people like him hurt our community. Yes, Sleazy Dwaine Caraway appointed him to the Plan Commission but we better watch what happens. Someone told me that Michael is in the Real Estate business.

Rufus Shaw/Dwaine Caraway/Michael Davis

Rufus Shaw writes on Dallas Blog that my actions in the TrinityVote campaign is the reason that Dwaine/Dwayne/Dewayne Caraway helped to remove me from the DART Board. He says that I was lying to the people about having to pay a toll to come out of Oak Cliff. Well, Tennell Adkins made the statement in a meeting that the traffic would be diverted to the toll road to redo 35N in the mixmaster (about 40 people were in the meeting including Dwaine's right hand person Ms. Margaret). Michael Morris from COG said that to do the Pegasus Project in the mixmaster, there would have to be a road for traffic to be diverted to while the work on the mixmaster was taking place and that was the reason that the Trinity Toll Road was important. If the people from Oak Cliff is using that road do you think they will pay a toll? It's a TOLL ROAD and there will be a charge.

Just for Michael Davis's information, I do not live in Glen Oaks. My precinct totals were 168 For and 191 Against. The percentage was about 53 to 47, the same as the outcome of the race. I do not think that we did so bad since we had Congresswoman Johnson, State Senator Royce West, County Commissioner John Wiley Price, the Negro preachers, and all of the Dallas City Council members against us but Angela Hunt. When you speak of something being a joke, you should have something to back that up. I can not ever think of you managing a campaign anywhere, therefore you have no record and are being used as a mouth piece for Dwaine Caraway. I think one of the other bloggers got it right, Kiss Ass.

There was a reason that it took Dwaine Caraway so many runs at the council office to be elected and many people are asking how in the world did it happen this time? They are basing their comments on his reputation, and those of us who have been in Dallas longer than a minute surely know what has been said about him. As as far as him being the Michael Jordan of the South Dallas, that is an absolute insult to Mr. Jordan.

Rufus Shaw has no clout in the black community. He has always attacked people, and that is why no black paper will let him write for them. I hope DallasBlog will catch on to his tricks. He is in with the Leppert (Negro) gatekeepers and his job is to attack.

They do not have to do it to us, We do it to eachother.

Michael Davis

As I read the electronic media, I continue to find comments about me from Michael Davis, the newly appointed Planning Commissioner by Dwaine/Dwayne/Dewayne Caraway. I have not been in his presence many times, so I do not know why he has this desire to keep making negative comments about me. I would assume that this is his first appointment and hope that he will learn and help the community as much as possible, but I am not sure the has the right frame of mind. You can not spend your time hating on someone that you do not know just to be in with people who you think that you know.

My record of service on the DART Board speaks for itself. It is known that I would have been the Chairman of the Board if I had been reappointed. I have no shame in the way that I represented myself and the community. I spent five years working and learning transportation issues, and I will say that there is not another African American in the southern sector who knows more about the issue than me. The reason that my removal is a topic of concern is the people who voted for me and one's who did not. Dwaine/Dwayne/Dewayne Caraway and Tennell Adkins (African American males) lead the charge for my removal. We all know that it was an 8-7 vote. Many people in the African American community did not like what happened(excluding Michael Davis)and have given me support. I will also say that there are some council members who are regretting their vote against me and they are saying that.

The appointment that Michael Davis received is one of a personal appointment by a council member and those appointments are not challenged by other council members. The appointment to the DART Board is a full council appointment. The appointments are different and I hope that Michael Davis understands the difference.

My suggestion to Michael Davis is to spend the time he is using on trying to defend the actions of Dwaine/Dwayne/Dewayne Caraway and Tennell Adkins on making sure he learns all that he can about the commission that he is on and then delivery for the community.

Dwaine/Dwayne/Dewayne Caraway

It is so good to know that Dallas citizens are not falling for the hype that is being written on different blogs about Dwaine/Dwayne/Dewayne Caraway. There are some that would try to make you believe that he is doing good work for the community with his short tenure in office (since June). They would also like for you to believe that the entire black community is 100% behind him (not true). Just check out some of these blogs and you will see where some of the problems are in our community, "It is not about the money, but it is all about the money."

Sharon Boyd seems to believe that she has to have a positive comment about Dwaine/Dwayne/Dewayne Caraway when ever Rufus Shaw or Michael Davis writes something about him on the blogs. While I respect her right to comment, it can not sway the black community's thoughts and ideas about this person. For years I was not a supporter of Sharon Boyd's, but I have found her to be more open than before.

The community is watching this new council and the jury is still out on who is good or bad.
