Former Dallas city manager Richard Knight Jr. has been tapped by Gov. Rick Perry to serve on the Texas Southern University governing board. Knight served as the city manager from 1986 to 1990 and now is the managing partner of Pegasus Texas Holdings LLC,
The appointment completes TSU's nine-member board, which was remade after a series of management and financial missteps at the state's largest historically black university. The previous board resigned.
Knight will join state NAACP President Gary Bledsoe, investment manager Sam Bryant, management consultant Richard Holland, former state Rep. Glenn Lewis, Choice Energy president Javier Loya, former Dell Computer Corp. executive Richard Salwen, former Dallas school board member Curtistene Smith McCowan and Tracye McDaniel, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Greater Houston Partnership, on the board.
